First11
How to play

One team.
Eleven picks.
One leaderboard.

First 11 is a football prediction game. Each matchday, pick one team and predict their starting eleven. Get more right than your mates to climb the leaderboard.

How to play

Three steps each matchday

Pick one team

Choose any team playing this matchday. The harder a team’s lineup is to predict, the more points it pays — so it’s worth weighing risk against reward.

Predict their starting 11 — and a captain

Build a lineup of 11 players you think will start, then hand one the armband. Form, suspensions, and injuries are all shown to help you decide.

Score twice

Your prediction locks 90 minutes before kickoff. Correct picks score the moment the real lineup lands; your players then earn performance points for the match itself — captain doubled — at full-time.

Two modes

League or Head-to-Head

The main game runs in League mode. Head-to-Head is the side quest where you settle it with a friend — or a whole group.

League mode

The main game. You pick ONE team each matchday and name a captain.

Correct picks earn lineup points (a difficulty multiplier on top). Your players then earn performance points for goals, assists and clean sheets — with your captain doubled.

Your total stacks across matchdays on the global leaderboard.

Head to Head mode

Take on a friend one-on-one, or start a group — everyone predicts the same teams.

Each gameweek, the most points wins — the exact same scoring as League (correct picks, rotation calls, captain and performance). One-on-one runs week by week; a group ranks on one shared table.

Runs all season. In a group the admin sets the teams each week; one-on-one, either of you can propose changes.

Scoring

How points are earned

Your score has two layers. A lineup score locks in at kickoff from your correct picks. A performance score is added at full-time from how those players actually played — with your captain’s doubled. That’s why a perfect 11 is just the start: back a team you expect to score and keep a clean sheet, not just the one that’s easiest to predict.

Each correct player

A perfect 11/11 = 33 base points, before any bonuses.

+4 pts

Bonuses don’t stack — you get the highest one you hit.

+10 pts

Rotation call — a rarely-starting player, called right

Players who rarely start are worth extra. Check the form dots — the fewer of the team’s last 5 they started, the bigger the bonus if you call it right.

+1 to +4

The difficulty multiplier below applies to this lineup score.

Performance score · added at full-time

Plays 60+ minutes

A correct pick only earns performance if they actually start and stay on.

+1 pt

Goal

Keeper or defender · midfielder · forward.

+5 / +4 / +3

Assist

+2 pts

Clean sheet · 60+ min

Keeper or defender · midfielder. Forwards don’t score for it.

+3 / +1

Goalkeeper saves

One point per three saves. Saving a penalty is +5.

+1 / 3

Cards, misses & goals conceded

Yellow −1 · red −3 (a second yellow is the red — punished once, not twice) · penalty miss −2. Keepers and defenders lose 1 for every 2 their team concedes.

−1 to −3

Captain ×2. Your captain’s performance points are doubled — back someone you expect to star. Your vice takes the armband if the captain doesn’t start. The double applies to performance only, never your correct picks.

Difficulty multiplier

Harder to predict pays more

Difficulty isn’t about how good a team is — it’s how hard their starting eleven is to call. We measure how much each team shuffles its lineup from match to match across the season (refreshed as the season runs). A settled side is Easy; a heavy rotator is Hard and pays up to 20% more. So a less-fancied team that chops and changes can be worth more than a giant who names the same eleven every week. The multiplier scales your lineup score; performance points aren’t multiplied.

Easy No bonus

Settled XI — names a near-identical team each time. Predictable.

Medium +10% bonus pts

Some rotation. The manager has options and uses them.

Hard +20% bonus pts

Heavy rotation across competitions. Tough lineup to read.

Rotation bonus

Call a rotation risk, earn more

Every player carries a form read — the five dots you see when you pick. Correctly back someone who’s been out of the side and you pocket a bonus on top of the base +3. The rarer his recent starts, the bigger it is — so a nailed-on regular pays nothing extra, while a genuine gamble pays the most. It only lands on picks you get right, and it’s part of your lineup score.

Started 4–5 of 5 No bonus

Nailed-on regular — no risk, no bonus.

Started 3 of 5 +1 pt

Rotated in and out. A mild call.

Started 2 of 5 +2 pts

More bench than XI lately.

Started 1 of 5 +3 pts

Rarely starts — a brave shout.

Started 0 of 5 +4 pts

Cold. Nail it and it pays the most.

No recent data — a debut or a new signing — means no bonus, not the biggest one. Like the rest of your lineup score, the bonus is scaled by the team’s difficulty multiplier.

Worked example

How the maths plays out

Sarah picks Liverpool (Hard, +20% bonus pts) and captains their striker. She gets 10/11 correct — including one brave call on a rotated starter — and her XI has a good day on the pitch.

Rules and edge cases

One pick per matchday

You back ONE team’s lineup, not multiple. Choose deliberately — there’s no resubmit on the same matchday.

Edits close at the lock

Your pick is editable until 90 minutes before kickoff. After that it locks — no further changes.

Your captain must start to count

The ×2 only lands if your captain is in the real starting 11. If they’re benched, your vice-captain takes the armband instead; if neither starts, no one is doubled.

Postponed matches still score

Your pick stands until the fixture is rescheduled. When it eventually plays, it scores retroactively.

Injured or suspended players still count

They’re flagged on the predict page (red = injury, amber = suspension). Picking them is allowed — they almost certainly won’t start.

Joining mid-season starts fresh

You’re eligible from your first matchday onward. No backdated scoring.
